What is organic clothing? Organic clothing has become increasingly popular over the last few years and has taken the world by storm. Some brands that have embraced this concept are Old Navy, Gap, and Gap Kids. Organic fashion is becoming a hot seller both in department stores and on the internet.

Organic clothing is made from fabrics grown in or harvested from non-genetically modified seeds and plants, which do not utilize synthetic pesticides or herbicides. Organic clothing can be made of Jute, Cotton, Jute/ Hemp, or Linen. Non-GMO means that the plant or seed is grown without using genetically modified seeds and components. Non-organic clothing can be made from 100% natural fabric such as cotton, linen, wool, and silk. Synthetic fibers do not have to be completely organic to receive the organic tag.

Organic fashion has been embraced by celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey and Rachel Cook. This has caused many consumers to embrace the lifestyle as well. For example, did you know that the Gap brand offers organic clothes for children? This is just one example of the growing organic fashion market. The organic fabric that is used does not contain any pesticides or herbicides, making it safe for our children to wear. Many other manufacturers are following the lead of these brands in an effort to make environmentally friendly clothing.

Not only are organic clothes made with sustainable fibers; many are made with bamboo. Bamboo fibers are biodegradable and made from plant life. Using sustainable and renewable resources to create clothing requires very little exploitation of the natural environment. When we reduce our use of pesticides and herbicides, we are reducing the amount of chemicals dumped into our environment.

One of the largest manufacturers of clothing using sustainable and renewable resources is Organic Cottage Products. They have a long history of using alternative products. Today, they source materials from places such as hemp and South America. They do not use pesticides or herbicides on their products, and they do not even use the chemical agent Boric acid which is used in most cotton farming methods.

What is organic clothing? It is the future of fashion.

With our current resources, we have no choice but to create more green fashion so that we can continue to enjoy the beautiful weather and lush vegetation that exist on this planet.

Many consumers want to know what is organic clothing? They want to be able to purchase clothing that is both safe for the environment, and good for their bodies. Today, many companies are making this happen. Many major department stores and brands have made it mandatory for their suppliers to only use non-toxic materials and biodegradable fibers in their organic apparel. Other brands are starting to go even further by establishing partnerships with environmental groups and other groups who help promote organic fashion.

Many consumers will resist giving up their power in the battle for cleaner clothes. Corporate America however, may be losing the battle for more environmentally friendly products. As our country becomes more aware of the dangers of chemicals in our water, and in our food, many people are turning away from these toxic products. What is organic clothing? It is a new way of dressing while taking care of your body.
